What
Drink in the beauty of Southern California while engaging in fitness with the San Diego Beach & Bay Half Marathon, 5K & 8K. If you loathe the hills, then you’ll be relieved to hear that this course is flat but contains plenty of scenery to take in – the starting elevation is just at 12 feet above sea level with a max elevation of 38 feet.
The course for each race starts and finishes near Fiesta Island, and the marathon winds by famous destinations including Crown Point, Sail Bay, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Belmont Park and Sea World! Pace groups are available to help runners finish within the 3.5-hour limit.
Race-day registration and bib pick up starts at 5:00 a.m. on April 14, but runners are highly encouraged to pick up their packets at the Expo at Road Runner Sports, located at 5553 Copley Drive, beforehand on Friday, April 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. You must have a photo ID and signed waiver to get your bib. If you are picking up a packet for another runner, you will need their photo ID and waiver.
The half marathon begins at 6:30 a.m. while the 5K and 8K start at 7:15 a.m. The Beer Garden opens at the finish line at 8:00 a.m., and that is also when the awards are presented for the 5K and 8K. Half marathon awards are presented at 9:00 a.m. and age group awards at 10:00 a.m. All racers receive a shirt and bib with their runner packet, and finisher’s medals are awarded at the finish line. The time limit for the half marathon is 3.5 hours, and runners must maintain a pace of 16 minutes per mile.
Remember there is still fun to be had once you cross that finish line! Enjoy the festival with local vendors, food, beer and live music. You even get a free beer coupon.
