April Featured Race: Pat’s Run

WHAT

Calling all Sun Devils! Join us for the 14th Annual Pat’s Run to celebrate spring while supporting the Pat Tillman Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to unite and empower veterans by providing support programs and awarding up to 60 educational scholarships a year to military veterans and their spouses. Run and have fun while raising money for a great cause.

The 4.2-mile course meanders through downtown Tempe and ends at Sun Devil Stadium. Whether you run a six-minute mile or plan to walk the entire course, come out and support U.S. veterans and their families. After the main race, kids can get in on the fun by participating in a 0.42-mile fun run from the Kids Corner to Sun Devil Stadium.

Pat's Run - Patt Tillman Foundation

As a participant in Pat’s Run, you will receive a race shirt with an ASU design to pay tribute to Pat’s alma mater, Arizona State University. At the finish line of the 4.2-mile event, you will also receive a finisher’s medal, the second edition in a collector series of race medals. Every year, you can earn the next medal in the series by finishing that year’s event.

It’s often more fun to run with a group, and this year’s race features new corral technology that will allow you to start the race with family and friends and still receive an accurate finish time. Better yet, run with a fundraising team to earn additional gear and prizes like Bose headphones, a framed jersey or free entry into next year’s event. You can help reach the goal of raising $125,000 from Pat’s Run and other Tillman Honors Runs around the country.

Relax after all that exercise by checking out the post-race party outside Sun Devil Stadium. Enjoy beer and music while mingling with other race participants and supporters. Don’t forget to shop for limited edition Tillman and ASU gear before and after the race at the race expo located on the north side of the stadium.

The Pat Tillman Foundation supports the memory of Arizona football player Pat Tillman. Pat was a linebacker and exemplary student at Arizona State University. Drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 1998, he was named to the NFL All-Pro Team in 2000. Moved by the September 11th attacks, Pat left a lucrative professional football career in 2002 to join the U.S. Army. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2004, becoming the first professional football player to be killed since the Vietnam War.

The Pat Tillman Foundation has provided over $15 million in academic support and depends on fundraising to provide its services and scholarships. Each participant in Pat’s Run and other Tillman Honors Runs nationwide helps to support the Foundation’s mission.
