April Featured Race: Atlanta Women’s 5k

What

The Northside Hospital Atlanta Women’s 5k celebrates the health and wellness of women all over with this fitness event. Any woman age 8 and older is welcome to register for this fantastic race celebrating what it means to be a woman. Athletes begin the race at Phoenix Park and follow a course that takes them through Zoo Atlanta. The race ends in Cheney Stadium, which was recently refurbished. Many athletes are sure to recognize the finish line venue as the facility used for track and field warm-ups for the 1996 Olympic Games.

Although the 5k begins at 8:00 a.m. on April 14, number pickup opens at 6:30 a.m. and racers must register to be timed and listed in results by 7:30 a.m. Runners can also pick up their numbers early on Thursday, April 12, or Friday, April 13, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Track Club at 201 Armour Drive. The registration fee on race day is $45, but athletes may be able to get a discount through early registration.

Atlanta Women's 5KThe Atlanta Women’s 5k also features team competition and awards. Athletes may register as a two-member sister team; two-member mother/daughter team; or four-member open, masters (age 40 and up), or grandmasters team (age 50). Awards are granted to overall champions for each team and the top three women in each age group. Times are tracked using the Chronotrack single-use B-tag attached to the racing bib.

As an added bonus, finishers receive a special medal and a flower at the finish line. Athletes who register in time also receive a Mizuno performance shirt in women’s sizes. Be sure to register and get yours early – shirts for registrations on race day are limited in size and availability.
