On December 1, 2016, thousands of athletes from first timers to race veterans are expected enter the lottery drawing for the iconic Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike (MTB) and Blueprint for Athletes Leadville Trail 100 Run presented by New Balance.
The lottery drawing will remain open through Dec. 31, and all entrants will be notified of their status via email on Jan. 16, and — new this year — lottery results for the 100 Run will be announced early at a reveal party on Jan. 15 at Runners Roost in Denver, Colorado. The 24th annual Leadville Trail 100 MTB is set for August 12, 2017. The 35th annual Leadville Trail 100 Run will be held on August 19, 2017.
What began with only 45 runners as the Leadville Trail 100 in 1983, the Leadville Race Series now consists of five running events and seven mountain biking events. The Race Series stretches across three months, and hosts thousands of racers on foot and on mountain bike in some of the world’s most iconic events. Endurance athletes worldwide now make the pilgrimage to Leadville, Colo., with the single goal of competing in “The Race Across the Sky.”
Each year, a fraction of those who enter will receive the chance to participate in the iconic event. For those who are determined to secure their slot, the Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike and Run Training Camps are also opening for registration on December 1. Both camps provide the first 50 registrants to sign up for the Camp/100 combination option a guaranteed slot in the 100 MTB or 100 Run.
The Leadville 100 Training Camps provide three full days of training on the 100 race courses, guided with advice from top coaches and Leadville 100 legends such as Dave Wiens and Roxanne Hall.
The Leadville Trail 100 Run Training Camp takes place June 23-26, with 50 LT100 Run slots available on a first-come first-served basis for $1,000. Camp registration, on its own without the 100 Run slot, is $495. The Leadville Trail 100 MTB Camp is offered June 29-July 1, and also includes a limited amount of LT100 MTB slots available with a camp purchase for $2,500. MTB Camp registration, on its own without the 100 MTB slot, is $1,000.
All Leadville 100 campers receive a VIP experience and sponsor swag, in addition to the chance to train on the legendary Leadville Trail 100 race course and learn from the best how to successfully race the Leadville 100 events. Past racers who participated in the camp boast a higher chance of finishing the grueling events and also have achieved numerous personal records due to the camp’s training opportunity.
