Eugene is known as a classic college town and there is plenty to keep you busy while visiting. The annual Food Scene Eugene Food and Drink Festival celebrates the vibrant foodie scene in Eugene. Every week the Saturday Market takes over 8th & Oak in downtown Eugene. There are more than 17 wineries within a 25-minute drive of downtown Eugene. Even if you aren’t imbibing leading up to race day, the views, tours, and flavors are worth a visit.

Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon. Half Marathon & Relay

“26.2 Miles of Black Hills Beauty” is the tagline for the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon and it definitely lives up to the hype. The trail follows the historic Burlington Northern Railroad line, abandoned in 1989. Deadwood also boasts some amazing steakhouses and the spectacular scenery of the Black Hills National Forest. Just a short drive away are the famous heads of our past presidents on Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park and the Crazy Horse Memorial.

July 22, 2017 | Munising, MI

The Grand Island Trail Marathon takes place on a wilderness island with spectacular views of Lake Superior. Take a short ferry ride over the Grand Island Recreation area or a glass bottom shipwreck tour. There are also numerous waterfalls to explore around Munising, including Munising Falls, Laughing Whitefish Falls Scenic Site, Memorial Falls, and the Tannery Falls.

October 15, 2017 | Bar Harbor, ME

The Mount Desert Island Marathon takes place in the beautiful town of Bar Harbor, earning it Runner’s World’s “most scenic marathon.” Make sure to take in the scenery of Maine; Bar Harbor is surrounded by Acadia National Park. There are plenty of restaurants and shops to explore in the small destination town, including Atlantic Brewing Company. Make sure to try some of New England’s delicacies like clam chowder and Maine lobster.

The list of activities in Lake Tahoe it practically never ending.  The course starts in Homewood and finishes on Lakeside Beach in South Lake Tahoe. The beach is just one of the many attractions in South Lake Tahoe. Explore the lake on the water or in the air, with boat rentals or hot air balloon rides. Or take a guided tour to El Dorado wine country in the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Outer Banks Half Marathon

November 10-12, 2017 | Kill Devil, NC

You’re never far from a beach when you’re on the Outer Banks and let’s be real, the beach is the perfect way to relax after a half marathon. Check out the Outer Banks Brewing Station for a beer or enjoy a classic Italian dish at Jolly Roger restaurant in Kitty Hawk. Then take some time to visit the 68,000 square-foot North Caroline Aquarium on Roanoke Island or check out the Manteo Farmer’s Market.

Canyonlands Half Marathon

March 17, 2018 | Moab, UT

The course of the Canyonlands Half Marathon follows the path of the Colorado River and finishes in Swanny City Park. After the race, if you’re not quite tired enough yet, take your pick of Arches National Park or Canyonlands National Park, or better still, both! Bataan Memorial Death March 

March 25, 2018 | White Sands Missile Range, NM

The Bataan Memorial Death March is a challenging march through the high desert terrain of the White Sands Missile Range to honor the service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II. White Sands is nestled in the Tularosa Basin between the Sacramento and San Andres Mountain ranges. You can sled down the sandy dunes or explore the unique landscape by bike. The white gypsum sand dunes are truly one of a kind.

Antelope Canyon

Page sits atop Manson Mesa and overlooks the 186-mile long lake, the dramatic Glen Canyon Dam and the surrounding canyons, arches, and historical Native ruins. The views on the course include two of the most photographed land features in the country, Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend of the Colorado River. After the race, make sure to go back and see the landscapes at a slower pace. You also won’t want to miss the Navajo Village Heritage Center.
